Dr. Neema Shakibai is a board-certified internist with extensive experience in both academic and private internal medicine. He integrates medical acupuncture into a holistic approach focused on optimizing health and supporting long-term well-being.

He served for 14 years at the New York Harbor Health Care System, where he was Co-Chief of the Section of General Internal Medicine and Brooklyn Campus Director of the SUNY Downstate Internal Medicine Residency Program. In these leadership roles, Dr. Shakibai guided the development and oversight of innovative, multidisciplinary primary care clinics delivering comprehensive, compassionate care to veterans throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Dr. Shakibai earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at NYU School of Medicine. He later completed advanced training at the Helms Medical Institute and received New York State certification in medical acupuncture. His experience also includes private practice within a multispecialty setting in San Diego, further shaping his approach to individualized, whole-person care. Known for his patient-centered philosophy to care, he builds trusted, long-term partnerships with those he serves.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Shakibai values spending quality time traveling, golfing, and relaxing at the beach with his wife and two daughters. A lifelong Yankees fan, he enjoys friendly debates with his Mets-loving patients and gets to the Stadium whenever he can.
